Why the Land Cruiser dominates the region
The 70, 200 and 300 series remain the backbone of NGO, mining and government fleets across East Africa. Parts availability and residual values keep demand strong for both new GCC-spec units and clean used stock.
Step 1 — Check age and steering rules
- Kenya: maximum 8 years from year of first registration, right-hand drive only.
- Tanzania: no strict age limit but excise duty increases sharply beyond 8–10 years.
- Uganda: vehicles older than 15 years attract an environmental levy.
Step 2 — Pre-shipment inspection
Kenya (KEBS), Tanzania (TBS) and Uganda (UNBS) require inspection by an approved agency before loading. We book the inspection at our Dubai yard and share the certificate in the customer portal.
Step 3 — Choose RoRo or container
RoRo is cheaper for one or two units; a 40ft high-cube container carrying four vehicles plus spare-part kits usually wins on total landed cost for dealers.
Step 4 — Documents
Commercial invoice, packing list, original bill of lading, certificate of origin, export declaration, de-registration certificate and inspection report. We courier originals within 48 hours of vessel departure.
